I'm Stephen Loewinsohn—a photographer, filmmaker, and teacher in Oakland, California.

My very first photograph. (1985)

I’ve been documenting life in The Bay Area as a photojournalist since 2010

From 2020-2022 I captured aerial footage for Blindspotting on Starz.

In 2018, I released a short film called The Bridge and Tunnel Crowd — a story told entirely through aerial timelapse footage and scored with my own music.

I’ve been teaching photography, filmmaking, and computer art at Bishop O'Dowd High School since 2022.

Please note: All content on this website represents solely my own ideas and beliefs which do not necessarily align with the positions of any of my past, present, or future employers.

When I’m not teaching or working with clients, I pursue my own creative projects, like documenting sideshows in Oakland and using custom-built racing drones with high-powered LED lights attached to make long-exposure light paintings.

I sometimes work with organizations like Oakland Soul and Children’s Fairyland to create original content.
